Air purifier - what is behind it and what can I expect
Air purifiers from our partner pa products offer increased safety in closed rooms. Viruses are filtered out of the room air via several filter stages from the fine dust filter, via HEPA filters with a separation efficiency of 99.95% and 99.995% @ MPPS (Most Penetration Particle Size). A continuous air exchange over several filter stages cleans the air and prevents airborne infection.
In particular Covid 19, colloquially often called Corona, is transmitted via the air. Especially in closed rooms there is therefore an increased risk of infection. A virus of the SARS group has a size of 120-160 nm and is mainly transmitted via the air. Nevertheless, viruses themselves are not active objects, but are spread via carriers. In particular droplets, which are e.g. distributed through the air we breathe, spread an infection.
This is where we can take countermeasures.
The air must be filtered. Not only infected people in a room can infect other people, but also "infected droplets" (droplets are not infected, but carry the virus in the circulating air)". This is because exhaled air can also contain viruses. Like influenza viruses, corona viruses can also be detected in the exhaled air of an infected person. Viruses such as influenza (with a size of 120 nm) and corona (with a maximum of 160 nm) do not fly around in the air in isolation, but are always enclosed in larger droplets in the air, i.e. they move in the form of an aerosol.
When breathing, every human being ejects tiny droplets (of a size of 1 µm). Each breath can contain 1,000-50,000 droplets. When coughing, the droplets are ten times larger (over 10 µm). This means that over 99% of the aerosols remain in the filters used. Class H13 HEPA filters separate 99.95% @ MPPS of all airborne particles. The MPPS of the filters used is between 0.1 and 0.3 µm. (1 µm = 1000 nm)
We can't outsmart the physics either, but we can filter in the best possible way and according to the current technical standard. A significant effect is that the carriers, which are mostly droplets, are filtered to almost 100%.
The device "X300L" has additionally 24 UV-C single lamps. The UV-C rays do not penetrate the human body. Viruses and bacteria, however, are reliably killed after prolonged irradiation in the air, in water and on smooth surfaces.
Nevertheless all further protective measures remain eminently important like a mouth and nose cover!
